5 Foot Diameter bass drum made for "Godzilla Vs Kong"

 In late 2018, we got approached to create this 5 Foot Bass Drum for the wonderful Hollywood Score Composer Tom Holkenborg, some of you may know him by his stage name "Junkie XL" or have heard his work on films such as "Deadpool" "Madmax: Fury Road" "Terminator: Dark Fate" and many others. We had worked with him the year prior creating drums for his work on the movie "Tomb Raider". As soon as I got the email, I knew he had something special up his sleeve! After a week or so of planning, we got to work and slowly came to realization that this was going to be bigger than any of us could have imagined. We re-tooled the entire workshop and after a about 2 months of work, over 150 clamps, almost 400 total feet of wood, and gallons of glue later, we had a drum! Standing at 8 feet tall with the stand, we knew this drum would be destined for great things but were unaware of what movie this could be used for. After delivering to Toms home studio in Hollywood, we were told it was going to be used for Godzilla Vs. Kong! I said "oh wow! so what other instruments will you be paring with the drum?" Tom looked at me and said "Nothing, your drum is it, your drum IS King Kong"

We were fortunate to be able to join Tom and his crew a few weeks later at Fox Studios Hollywood to watch them record and take sound samples of the drum to begin scoring the movie. I was told that there were 15, $30,000 microphones on it to record the best possible tones and sounds. 

I want to thank Tom and his crew for entrusting us during this process. This experience was the biggest, if not THE biggest highlight of my career and I couldn't be more thankful.
