Fa'atete, Fa'akete, or Pa'u Mango are the "running" or "rolling" high pitch skin drums that are just as distinct sounding as a Toere. Like our bass drums, they are made from 100% hand bent wood. Our Faatetes come in either a 10" diameter or a 12" diameter by 17" tall. You have the choice of which diameter best suits the sound you're looking for. They come topped with your choice of goat skin or vinyl.
Apart from bended shells, we also offer Faatetes made from palm wood logs and other woods that we shape and hollow in a similar process to our Toeres. This option is very beneficial for custom shapes and custom carvings.
Ironwood Faatete sticks
Each drum is made using a design of your choice. When purchasing a Faatete or any of our skin drums, I will provide you with an email or message containing our current design selection (usually 40+ on hand) that you can choose from to make your drum unique.
Personalization and custom work is something we specialize in as well. Please visit our Custom Drums section for more information.

Custom for the band Te Vaka
The Ihara or Bamboo sounding drum is a great instrument and accessory to have for any Fa'atete player and even To'ere player. Though bamboo and other woods were commonly used to create this unique sound, we have since substituted those for round stock dowels. This not only makes its function just as good, but we can also alter the pitch with different size dowels as well as easily replace them as they wear.
